Teaching & Advocacy

Viveka is engaged in various educational and advocacy projects aimed at enhancing behavioral, relational and psychological processes and dimensions of our climate, social, and ecological crises for a more just, connected and regenerative tomorrow. To this end, here are some examples of her engagements:

  • Co-taught the first course on Psychology and Climate Change at Lund University, Sweden.
  • Co-teacher of mindfulness and climate psychology at the Eco Resilience course at University of California, Berkeley.
  • Offer workshops, lectures and public forums to educate and explore climate psychology and climate distress and resilience (e.g., this lecture offered at ProSocial World).
  • ProSocial Facilitator where individuals and groups come together to learn prosocial theory and methods, deepen awareness and responsiveness, build shared purpose and vision, and enhance group effectiveness, collaboration, and collective action.
  • Active member in the Climate Justice and Action special interest group (SIG) at the Association for Contextual Behavioral Science (ACBS) and the Climate Psychology Alliance North America.
  • Collaborator and advisor at Innergi and their Happy Brains @ Work program to support and boost mental flexibility and sustainability in organizations and at work.
  • Teach and offer workshops on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness and compassion, and psychotherapy practices that harness and deepen emotions and relational experiencing.
